wild

you told me one night

when we were wild

and fighting sleep

that i was your stars

and your moon

and i think about that a lot

it’s not often someone

takes the words

right from my mouth

~

and in my excitement i almost

interrupted you

i wanted to say that to me it’s you

who moves my oceans

you whose kisses taste

of that salty-sweet familiar tide

that im effortlessly pulled into this subtle rhythm

that our choreography seems of cosmic design

~

you see

i look up to you

your quiet peace is like velvet-starred skies

dampening the rattle of these ceaseless city streets

i see you as an ancient golden archer

powerful

and precise

and i’m confronted by your strength on days

when i can’t find the courage

to even crack open

my front door

~

so when you speak of love and galaxies

i’m overwhelmed by the gravity of your metaphor

because i’m constantly humbled by our celestial give and take

i say let’s let our universes collide

lets see what other constellations

you and i can make
